Alex, 19 years old, is from the US. Host mother and her children came to pick him up at the airport when he landed on February 14th. Although it was the first time to meet each other, this little boy was impressive. He is very nice. Alex is self-motivated, adaptable, adventurous and curious. He has many hobbies. He has a great interest in music. He has been playing piano for 8 years. He also has been playing percussion for six years. He played in high school bands and marching bands. He has his own band. He loves backpacking in forest or on the beach. He is a volunteer for community service. He is good at dog training. The little dog is named Sheldon. It is positively nimble. He is also learning new languages now. In addition to the above, Alex puts an heart in swimming, playing tennis, badminton, ping pong, going hiking and skiing. He is willing to share his interests with the children. Meanwhile, he has patience to get to know children’s hobbies. Because he wants to get along well with them and trys to keep their curiosity.

Alex also got his TEFL certificate. TEFL, full name is Teaching English as a Foreign Language. At present, TEFL certificate is worldwide admitted and accepted, which is one of the internationally recognized certificates for teachers of English. It is proved that the foreign teachers have been trained in oral English and teaching methods and also have mastered certain skills.

I hope the host family can embrace different cultures between China and the US. Even if we are not saying the same language, I will try my best to teach them my languages. I hope the host family can do as same as me, like teaching me Chinese. I am looking forward to getting our cultures and languages together.

Erika is 18 years old. She is from Mexico, arriving in China on February 16th. Erika is a friendly, active, and curious girl. She can speak English and Spanish, and she can also know how to use Mexican sign language to communicate. She also knows some basic French and German.

Erika was very excited when she got to know the Au Pair program from ICXC, because she always wanted to go to China to learn about Chinese culture and jade. Of course, she also looks forward to living with a host family, learning from each other, sharing her own culture and creating a beautiful experience.

" I know how to get along with adults and children, so I believe we will get along very well. Personally, I like to be with children very much because I know how to communicate and get along with children. I will accompany them as a friend instead of a nanny. " Erika said.

Jaidah is 18 years old. She is from Australia, arriving in China on February 16th. Jaidah is very easygoing. Her friends all think that she is a trustworthy, extroverted person. She is good at taking care of others and a good listener.

Jaidah has a lot of interests, including listening to music, dancing, drawing pictures and playing with children. She got a lot of experiences in looking after children, tutoring their homework and teaching children aged 8 to 17 to dance. Jaidah likes to stay with kids very much. She realizes that is what she wants to do in the future. Therefore, after finishing being an Au Pair, she wants to go to university to learn how to become a primary school teacher. Before going to college, Jaidah chose China to participate in Au Pair program because she wanted to have a deeper understanding of Asian culture, meet new friends and enrich her knowledge.

Antony is 22 years old. He is from Peru, arriving in China on February 22nd. Antony likes playing football and learning Chinese, which is his favorite. Speaking of Chinese, when submitting the application materials, he also typed a paragraph of Chinese introduction by himself.

" My Chinese name is Pan Dongni. I was born in Peru. My mother language is Spanish, but my English is good though. I study translation, that is why my English is good. I am crazy about playing football. I can also swim. My hobby is learning Chinese. Although there are still some minor problems, I can see Antony really likes Chinese.

It is happy for him to come to China and exchange culture with reciprocal families. He is willing to share Peruvian traditional cultures with them, such as traditional songs, dances, food, legends and mysteries.

Barbara is 22 years old. She is from Slovenia, arriving in China on February 23rd. Barbara studies English and history at the Art Institute in Ljubilana. She just finished her freshman year, but she wanted to stop studying and looked outside first. Therefore, She came to China to be an Au Pair, and will go back to continue her study after the completion of the program.

Barbara likes traveling and reading, so she likes collecting postcards and books. She also likes all kinds of history. She has a great interest in Chinese history and Chinese tradition. Barbara likes to stay with kids, because children are always pure and real. She also has her own ideas on how to help children improve their English after coming to a host family. " The most important thing is to talk to them, which is one aspect that they can learn more. I think there is still as much as possible to increase their vocabulary, by using simple words to explain the meaning. Reading is also very important. You can read aloud and so on. "

Barbara is very happy to have the opportunity to be an Au Pair living in a host family of China,  She will try her best to be a good one.

Thor is 21 years old. He is from Denmark, arriving in China on February 26th.

Thor said he is a social person, easy-going and interesting. His greatest interest is to travel and experience various cultures. In his free time, he enjoys drawing, baking, swimming, cycling, running, etc. He is stuck on electronic products, such as taking them apart and repairing them. He loves electronic music. He can play electronic music with his friends in the studio.
