On January 9th, our host family finally met the Au pair from Mexico. The host mother and our coordinator went to pick up her from Shenzhen airport together. Welcome our new Au pair Leilani from Mexico landing Shenzhen !

Leilani, 21, graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico last November. Her mother tongue is Spanish and she is proficient in English. Now learning French, and she hope to learn Chinese this time in China.

Leilani is a happy easy-going person who can easily adapt to a new environment. She believes that change is essential to life. She is also an independent girl who has been working hard to meet her daily needs since moving to college in the city in 2015. Leilani strongly believes that attitude determines everything. She loves life and often seeks the positive side of life.

When it comes to spending time with kids, Leilani is the oldest sister of the nine cousins, so she helps to take care of the daily life of his younger brothers and sisters, to play games with them, to feed them while dinner, or help them with their homework, and so on. She also have been an English teaching assistant.

"I enjoyed spending time with kids, so I was looking forward to have a good relationship with children from my host family."

Yoga, using ancient and easy-to-master techniques to improve people's physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual abilities, is a way to achieve a harmonious movement between body, mind and spirit.

Leilani likes to practice yoga and meditation because she feels that a person's inner peace is so important that these exercises help her to treat the person she meets and every moment in her life with a calm attitude.

Before her arrival of China, Leilani brought a gift for everyone in the host family, a glass for drinking Tequila, a small bag, and a variety of little things full of Mexican characteristics. The host family was very surprised and moved.

It’s the best way for the kids to learn English, by creating opportunities for children to practice English in the daily life, children will feel that English is a part of daily life, like the mother tongue can express their joy and sadness.

The most important thing is to make children learn English while playing with a foreign sister, which is the best way for the kids to start learning English. At the same time, you can follow the foreign sister to learn about foreign culture. I hope Leilani can open another window for children and take them to experience different culture on their growth process.
