It was Kate's birthday, but she was away from her family and friends back home. But Kate's second family in China--her host family and the Au Pair agency--had planned a surprised party for her! The host family had booked a beautiful birthday cake days in advance and the agency organized all the Au Pairs together for a surprise. When Kate walked out of the classroom that day, she was surprised by a dark hallway. Then, everyone came out holding the candle-lit cake and singing the birthday song. Kate jumped out of happiness.
